BILL H4123, the Protection of Minors from Pornography and Obscenities Act, closes that outdated loophole—ensuring schools are held to the same standard as everyone else while still allowing for age-appropriate sex education and biology instruction.

It’s time to update South Carolina law to reflect today’s reality. Decades ago when lawmakers exempted schools from laws that prevent the distribution of obscene materials to minors, they never imagined that sexually explicit and profane content would make its way into our classrooms and school libraries.
