Removing persuasively vulgar, lewd, obscene and sexually explicit materials from SC public school libraries
Passing statewide legislation to prohibit vulgar and sexually explicit materials from entering the schools in the first place!
The SC Department of Education regulation 43-170 went into effect on August 1, 2024. This ensures that material is:
1.) Age and developmentally appropriate: no material may include descriptions or visual depictions of “sexual conduct“, as defined in longstanding SC law.
2.) Educationally suitable and aligned with the purposes of South Carolina’s instructional program.
